Our Favorite Spots for Estes Park Sledding

Mother and Daughter Sledding

When fresh snow falls in the Rocky Mountains, it’s time to grab your sled and hit the hills! Sledding is one of the most simple, joyful ways to enjoy winter, and we know some fantastic spots for Estes Park sledding.

Hidden Valley in Rocky Mountain National Park

Hidden Valley is hands-down the most popular sledding spot in Estes Park—and for good reason! Located inside Rocky Mountain National Park, this former ski resort boasts a wide-open hill that’s perfect for sledding enthusiasts of all ages. Whether you’re a thrill-seeking adult or have little ones in tow, Hidden Valley offers plenty of room to zoom down the hill without feeling cramped or crowded. The surrounding snow-covered pines and towering mountain peaks make this spot as scenic as it is fun.

Make sure to bring your own sled or snow tube since rentals aren’t available here. And don’t forget to plan ahead—Hidden Valley is within Rocky Mountain National Park, so a park entrance fee or pass is required. But trust us, it’s worth every penny to experience sledding in this breathtaking winter wonderland.

The YMCA of the Rockies

The YMCA of the Rockies offers not only a ton of winter activities but also a designated sledding area that’s ideal for families. Their hill is a great choice if want to combine sledding with other winter activities like ice skating or snowshoeing. Plus, you can rent sleds on-site, making it super convenient if you didn’t pack your own.

What makes sledding at the YMCA even better is the convenience factor. You can rent sleds directly on-site, saving you the hassle of packing extra gear. Once you’ve had your fill of sledding, you can stick around and try out the YMCA’s other winter activities, like ice skating, snowshoeing, or even cross-country skiing. It’s the kind of place where you can spend an entire day having fun together.

Where to Rent Sledding Gear in Estes Park

Don’t have your own sled? No problem! Estes Park has plenty of places to rent everything you need for a fun day in the snow. Estes Park Mountain Shop is a great spot to start—they offer sleds, snowshoes, and other winter gear at budget-friendly prices. Another excellent option is Kirk’s Mountain Adventures, a local outfitter known for its quality rentals and friendly service.
