Starting Your Journey from Denver

Kick off your road trip in Denver, where urban vibes meet mountain horizons. To hit the Peak to Peak Byway, head northwest on US-36. As you leave the city behind, watch as the skyscrapers fade, and the Rockies rise before you. Your adventure has begun!

Entering the Byway: The First Stretch

At Boulder, follow CO-119 to Nederland, where you officially hop on the Peak to Peak Byway. This is where the fun really starts. The road winds through thick forests and past crystal-clear creeks. Keep your camera handy; the photo ops are endless!

Just a short detour from Boulder, Boulder Falls cascades down a steep canyon, creating a spectacular waterfall you can hear before you see. It’s a perfect spot to stretch your legs and soak in some nature vibes.

Nederland to Allenspark: Historic Towns and Epic Views

Continuing on CO-119, you’ll pass through Nederland, a quirky mountain town known for its festivals and local charm. Grab a coffee at a cozy café and enjoy the laid-back atmosphere.

A little north of Nederland, this area offers great hiking trails and a peek into Colorado’s mining history. Plus, the views of the Indian Peaks are simply breathtaking.

Next, switch to CO-72 at the roundabout, cruising through more scenic forest. As you reach Allenspark, a tiny town with a lot of heart, consider a quick stop to explore local shops or grab a snack.

Perched dramatically on a rocky outcrop, this chapel is both picturesque and peaceful. It’s a must-visit for some incredible photos and a moment of reflection.

The Final Stretch to Estes Park

From Allenspark, merge onto CO-7 for the final leg to Estes Park. This stretch is pure magic. The road meanders through lush forests, revealing stunning mountain views around every bend.
