Murphy's River Lodge Reviews

“Excellent place to stay in Estes Park”

My wife and I couldn’t have been happier with our stay at Murphy’s River Lodge. We stayed 4 nights in an off river king room. We loved the room! It was large, clean and comfortable. The parking is great too, we were never more than a few feet away from our truck, so packing and loading was easy. We went out for breakfast everyday, but it looked like the breakfast choices at the lodge were good and plentiful. Not a full breakfast, but plenty to get you going on the morning. The grounds were also very well maintained. We didn’t spend any time in the pool area, but it was always busy and it looked like people were really enjoying it. Definitely a family friendly place to stay. We visit Estes Park often and it was our first stay there and it is now our 1st choice when we stay in Estes Park. The staff is awesome! So nice and helpful and made us feel very welcome. They even gave us some hot chocolate one night when we asked if they had some. All the rooms have dvd players and they have a great selection of movies in the lobby you can take and watch in your rooms. We watched a couple after long days in the park, it was great! The location is excellent too! They also take a photo of you and your family in the large rocking chair at the front of the grounds with a great view of mountains in the background. They also print and frame it for you, so when you get home, you already have a framed photo from your vacation, it’s great. We will definitely stay at Murphy’s River Lodge the next time we’re in Estes Park and would definitely recommend it to everyone. - Matthew Henry

“Great Location, friendly staff!”

We recently stayed three nights at Murphy’s River Lodge during our vacation to Rocky Mountain National Park. The location is terrific; it is an easy walk to downtown Estes Park for dinner or shopping. It is also conveniently located on the way to the park’s Fall River entrance. We stayed in the “Aspen” room, which was very spacious and comfortable. Our room did not have a view of the river, but each morning we were lucky enough to wake up to a herd of elk grazing just outside our window!

The Murphy’s River Lodge staff were all very friendly and knowledgeable about the town and hiking trails within the park. The continental breakfast was excellent as well, just what we needed prior to hitting the trails. We will definitely stay here again during our next trip to Estes Park! - Otters Family

“Mountain and river views – it doesn’t get better!”

Our 5th trip to Murphy’s—and we will return! Living on the front range, we have a choice of literally hundreds of destinations and thousands of hotels—and we choose Murphy’s. Conveniently located close to Rocky Mountain Nat’l Park & an easy walk to downtown Estes shopping and restaurants, squeaky clean, very comfortable and friendly efficient staff—Murphy’s is the best!
We recommend the second floor on the river. Open your doors a bit at night and listen to the water. You will likely see elk grazing near by from your deck.
Nice breakfast with fresh fruit, breads, cereal, juice, hard boiled eggs, coffee, tea, etc in a super clean space. Perfect to start the day and head to the Park or shopping.
We were too busy touring to use the pool and hot tub this trip but have in the past and enjoyed.
Recommend Murphy’s for everyone! - Pal Max

“Location, Location!”

Our first concern was location and this one is great. It’s a quiet place with a pleasant paved walk along the babbling river to town and just a short drive into RMNP. We arrived on Wed,Sept 24 and stayed 3 nights, leaving before the crowds arrived on Sat for the weekend drive through
the Park.

The managers and desk attendent were very warm and hospitable and were not sure why our room preference was changed as they always honor the room location that is reserved. She
sincerely apologized when all upstairs riverview rooms were already occupied when we arrived and we were assigned a downstairs deluxe riverview. We thought that upstairs would be quieter so were hesitant about accepting the lower level, but we never heard the party above us and were very happy in room 104. It was an upgrade but there was no extra charge, plus they gave us a very nice bottle of wine to enjoy on our patio next to that babbling river. This room had a full kitchen but we really only used the refrigerator for a few things since the continental breakfast at the lodge was good and we went to dinner every single night to the Big Horn right next door to enjoy their good homecooking, trout, babyback ribs, fried chicken, lots more to choose from and a good soup and salad bar and lots of good desserts, all served with more warm hospitality. We also got some great Deli sandwiches there to take into the park for our lunches daily. As far as the accomodations, our room was spotless and the king bed very comfy and the kitchen had all supplies one would need. There was a dining table inside and also a table and chairs on the patio to enjoy the riverview. The swinging bench by the river was a fun way to relax for a few moments before heading out for our nightly stroll along the riverwalk. And what a nice gesture to have our picture taken on the giant wooden rocker out front which was immediately printed out and framed for us as a lovely souvenir. Thankyou again for your kind hospitality! - Sam C
