Murphy's River Lodge Reviews
“Excellent place to stay in Estes Park”
My wife and I couldn’t have been happier with our stay at Murphy’s River Lodge. We stayed 4 nights in an off river king room. We loved the room! It was large, clean and comfortable. The parking is great too, we were never more than a few feet away from our truck, so packing and loading was easy. We went out for breakfast everyday, but it looked like the breakfast choices at the lodge were good and plentiful. Not a full breakfast, but plenty to get you going on the morning. The grounds were also very well maintained. We didn’t spend any time in the pool area, but it was always busy and it looked like people were really enjoying it. Definitely a family friendly place to stay. We visit Estes Park often and it was our first stay there and it is now our 1st choice when we stay in Estes Park. The staff is awesome! So nice and helpful and made us feel very welcome. They even gave us some hot chocolate one night when we asked if they had some. All the rooms have dvd players and they have a great selection of movies in the lobby you can take and watch in your rooms. We watched a couple after long days in the park, it was great! The location is excellent too! They also take a photo of you and your family in the large rocking chair at the front of the grounds with a great view of mountains in the background. They also print and frame it for you, so when you get home, you already have a framed photo from your vacation, it’s great. We will definitely stay at Murphy’s River Lodge the next time we’re in Estes Park and would definitely recommend it to everyone. - Matthew Henry
“Great Location, friendly staff!”
We recently stayed three nights at Murphy’s River Lodge during our vacation to Rocky Mountain National Park. The location is terrific; it is an easy walk to downtown Estes Park for dinner or shopping. It is also conveniently located on the way to the park’s Fall River entrance. We stayed in the “Aspen” room, which was very spacious and comfortable. Our room did not have a view of the river, but each morning we were lucky enough to wake up to a herd of elk grazing just outside our window!
The Murphy’s River Lodge staff were all very friendly and knowledgeable about the town and hiking trails within the park. The continental breakfast was excellent as well, just what we needed prior to hitting the trails. We will definitely stay here again during our next trip to Estes Park! - Otters Family
“Mountain and river views – it doesn’t get better!
Our 5th trip to Murphy’s—and we will return! Living on the front range, we have a choice of literally hundreds of destinations and thousands of hotels—and we choose Murphy’s. Conveniently located close to Rocky Mountain Nat’l Park & an easy walk to downtown Estes shopping and restaurants, squeaky clean, very comfortable and friendly efficient staff—Murphy’s is the best!
We recommend the second floor on the river. Open your doors a bit at night and listen to the water. You will likely see elk grazing near by from your deck.
Nice breakfast with fresh fruit, breads, cereal, juice, hard boiled eggs, coffee, tea, etc in a super clean space. Perfect to start the day and head to the Park or shopping.
We were too busy touring to use the pool and hot tub this trip but have in the past and enjoyed.
Recommend Murphy’s for everyone! - Pal Max
Our first concern was location and this one is great. It’s a quiet place with a pleasant paved walk along the babbling river to town and just a short drive into RMNP. We arrived on Wed,Sept 24 and stayed 3 nights, leaving before the crowds arrived on Sat for the weekend drive through the Park.
The managers and desk attendent were very warm and hospitable and were not sure why our room preference was changed as they always honor the room location that is reserved. She sincerely apologized when all upstairs riverview rooms were already occupied when we arrived and we were assigned a downstairs deluxe riverview. We thought that upstairs would be quieter so were hesitant about accepting the lower level, but we never heard the party above us and were very happy in room 104. It was an upgrade but there was no extra charge, plus they gave us a very nice bottle of wine to enjoy on our patio next to that babbling river. This room had a full kitchen but we really only used the refrigerator for a few things since the continental breakfast at the lodge was good and we went to dinner every single night to the Big Horn right next door to enjoy their good homecooking, trout, babyback ribs, fried chicken, lots more to choose from and a good soup and salad bar and lots of good desserts, all served with more warm hospitality. We also got some great Deli sandwiches there to take into the park for our lunches daily. As far as the accomodations, our room was spotless and the king bed very comfy and the kitchen had all supplies one would need. There was a dining table inside and also a table and chairs on the patio to enjoy the riverview. The swinging bench by the river was a fun way to relax for a few moments before heading out for our nightly stroll along the riverwalk. And what a nice gesture to have our picture taken on the giant wooden rocker out front which was immediately printed out and framed for us as a lovely souvenir. Thankyou again for your kind hospitality! - Sam C
"This is an awesome place."
This is an awesome place. Great rooms in a fantastic place. A must to stay here. The staff is so friendly and we felt really at home. Had the best time ever. This is the place to stay in Estes Park. If we go back we will definitely stay here. The scenery is fantastic and it is a short walk to all the shops and restaurants. We loved it. - Ken K
"Everything was perfect."
Everything was perfect. We got into Estes Park after check-in office closed. (We had been on road over 13 1/2 hours) The manager came and reopened the office within 15 minutes, to check us into the room for a 2 DAY STAY. Manager followed up with us the next morning to ensure we were settled in and make sure room was to our liking. The room and Breakfast was a 5 star rating. Rob and Robin, Texas - Robin Norris
My husband and I absolutely loved staying here. Our room with water view was amazing and the bedroom was cute, clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly. I loved the fact you could borrow movies and board games. If we come back to Estes Park we will definitely stay here. I also love the fact it wasn't super expensive to stay here. - Kendra R
"Lodging in the Rockies"
My sister and I had a mini vacation to Estes Park, Colorado, and chose to stay at the Murphy's River Lodge. It was a perfect location to easily walk into town where many of the shops are located. Our accomodations were clean and comfortable. A great breakfast was included. The office staff was friendly and very helpful. A special touch before we left was to have our picture taken while sitting in the big chair outside of the office. They gave us 2 prints and two 5x7 frames. What a great reminder of our wonderful time in Estes Park! We would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to others. - Janet B
"Affordable and within Walking Distance"
Rooms are spacious and we have a balcony overlooking the Fall River. Located on W. Elkhorn, you are within walking distance of all the shops and restaurants including Antonio's New York Pizza. Easy access to the park and anything else you could need. Cinnamon's is just a short drive down the road. This was a great choice for our family. I am so happy we were able to get the booking! - Debra R
We got a suite at the Murphy's River Lodge. It was a great room with a king bed and pull out couch. It had a big TV and DVD player with free movies. The room had a full kitchen with pots, pans, dishes and silverware. We made dinner there. We were excited because the back porch over looked the river. There was even a cute swing where we could sit and enjoy it. Breakfast was continental but it was very substantial. We would stay there again. - Jennifer B
"Only Place We'll Stay"
Murphy's River Lodge is the only place we've stayed for our 3 trips to E.P. and it will continue to be where we stay on all future visits. Perfect location for walking into town for fun and for access to RMNP. Clean room with great service from all staff. Pam who maintains the continental breakfast is wonderful. We will return to E.P. and stay at Murphy's River Lodge. Thanks for another great week in the Rockies! - SeoulMan08
My husband and I decided to take a last minute "adult only" trip to Estes for the weekend. We chose Murphy's River Lodge due to them having riverside rooms available. Check in was a breeze, and the lady at the front desk was so friendly and helpful. The rooms are large and comfortable, but the best part is the river right outside the window. Next time I would request a ground level room, so we could walk over the river with ease instead of having to go down the stairs and around. We will be back for sure! - Maureen G
Easy walk to downtown Estes, also a very short walk to one of the best pizza places in the area (Antonio's). Accommodations were pretty good, we had room right off the river which was great. We did bring some food and they had propane BBQ grills to use. The indoor pool was nice and adult only hot tub was outstanding. Breakfast was really good and was a highlight. Would highly recommend this place. - Groucho M
"Great Location To EVERYTHING!"
We stumbled upon Murphy's River Lodge when looking for a place in Estes that was close to Rocky Mountain National Park and to town. Murphy's is the best of both worlds. We were able to walk into town along the river path and take a quick 10 minute car ride into the park. This place is very family friendly and our kids (6) and (10) loved the location by the river, the indoor pool, the options at the very extensive "continental" breakfast, including a "kids" snack drawer loaded with snacks for them to choose from, when leaving our way to Rocky Mountain National Park for a hike. The fire pit for smores is fabulous too. Definitely try and get a room on the river. We wanted to come back this summer for a return trip to Murphy's but they were booked. We will keep trying. - Kayleen K
"On the River"
A great respite from the summer heat with a riverside location. We stayed in one of the condo units that had a kitchen, fireplace, and private deck right on the river. The desk staff willingly answer your questions and the maid service does a great job in cleaning and providing fresh towels. The continental breakfast has an array of offerings; coffee, juice, cereal, muffins, etc. A great way to fill up before heading into the park. And, my favorite, a riverside fire-pit to relive your adventures in RMNP. Walking distance to Estes Park restaurants and shopping. - 126Robert
